10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Goldberg

10. Goldberg Was A True Home Grown WCW Star

WWE's revisionist version of wrestling history would like people to believe that WCW didn't do anything original. For years, Vince McMahon cried out that the company merely stole all of the stars he had created during the 1980's, living off their appeal throughout the 90's. Incredibly, WWE have even tried to spin the nWo on occasion, claiming that it was a fluke.

This is the same kind of attitude the McMahon family reserve for Bill Goldberg. In WWE's mind, Goldberg was only successful because of his passing resemblance to Steve Austin whilst 'Stone Cold' was on top. The truth is more than a little different, Goldberg was a star home grown by WCW. This fact comes much to the chagrin of WWE. In fairness, WCW didn't create - from the ground up anyway - many true headliners.

The likes of Booker T and Diamond Dallas Page could be contenders, but Goldberg was the undoubted king of their development plans. By far, Goldberg was the most successful graduate from the promotion's Power Plant training facility, and WWE's attempts to play him down over the years reek of jealousy.
