10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Hell In A Cell

8. CM Punk vs Ryback

CM Punk and Ryback have never had the best in-ring chemistry, a fact that was blatantly obvious even before Punk publicly trashed him. Hell in a Cell 2012 was a prime example of this, as the pair squared off for Punk's WWE Championship in the main event. It was a plodding, crowd-sapping affair, one which could easily have taken place without the Cell stipulation. The match itself may have been poor, but the finish was even worse. In the midst of a mid-reign heel turn (despite being the most popular babyface champ in years), Punk had begun winning matches in unscrupulous fashion. This one took the cake, as the referee - a then-unknown Brad Maddox - low-blowed Ryback and administered the fastest of fast counts. It was an unimaginative hand-wave of an ending, one which greatly offended the intelligence of the fans. In a weak attempt to send the live audience home happy, Ryback sloppily beat Punk and Maddox around the Cell to an uncomfortable "this is what we paid for?" silence. At least they didn't do it again...
