10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About John Morrison

1. He Became A Star Outside WWE

Once he was feeling a bit better physically after a few months off, John returned to wrestling and became a darling of the 'As Seen In WWE' indy booking circuit. From there, he'd carve out a place for himself on the Lucha Underground roster as Johnny Mundo, and he ended up become a company standout.

The march towards workhorse status continued when John signed for Impact in 2017 and became the group's World Champ at Bound For Glory 2018. He'd hold that belt for a whopping 196 days before putting over Brian Cage at Rebellion in April 2019. It was another reminder to WWE that they'd misused someone so talented.

John, whether using the Mundo or Impact name, became a main event star outside WWE.

This isn't something they'll acknowledge when he comes back. Instead, WWE are much more likely to say Morrison has been 'wrestling around the world' since 2011. Picking out individual title wins or acknowledging that he only became a proper headliner after leaving won't be in the script.
