Wrestlers are often guilty of going too far in their efforts to injure or maim opponents during the throes of battle.

But whilst many such incidents - backing up the ambulance they're in into a production truck, throwing them down a flight of stairs, kicking them into a burning dumpster, and so on - can be dismissed off hand as heat-of-the-moment impetuousness, there's something deeply troubling about Kane's attack on Shane McMahon from 2003.

He certainly wasn't going to kill Shane O'Mac by sending volts of electricity through his nether regions, neither give him himself any real advantage ahead of their next wrestling match.

It seemed, instead, that 'The Big Red Machine' was simply letting his sadomasochistic side get the better of him. Which is a little weird, and something PG-friendly WWE probably won't be revisiting in a compendium of his best ever moments.
