If you've never had the pleasure, then pause for a moment to watch Kofi Kingston's first New Day's promo.

It's upbeat, preachy, false and more than a little obnoxious. For some reason, Vince McMahon believed this would make Kofi, Xaxier Woods and Big E top, top babyfaces in 2014. Y'know, the exact same year in which Daniel Bryan had captured fan hearts by being real and letting them grow to love him.

Unsurprisingly, it didn't work. The New Day were booed out of the building during their earliest appearances, and audiences rebelled against their "New Day Rocks" chant with one of their own. Thus, "New Day Sucks" was born, and it wouldn't change again until the trio had time to tweak the gimmick and add their own touches.

WWE might talk about how New Day were frostily received before winning everyone over by being so damn entertaining, but they're unlikely to disclose that such a negative response was because the quasi-religious gimmick tanked.
