10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About No Mercy
7. Big Show's US Title Win
The Big Show/Eddie Guerrero feud from the fall of 2003 was not a creative highpoint for WWE. The whole dispute centred around Show being overtly racist about Eddie's Mexican heritage and Latino Heat spiking his burritos with laxatives and then spraying him with sh*t in retaliation. It was bad WWE comedy as only WWE can do and it lead to a semi-main event match at No Mercy.
Aside from the massive size difference, the match was noteworthy for the cuts and sores on Guerrero's back, the result of a Big Show chokeslam through the windshield of one of Eddie's lowriders. Guerrero was on a huge roll at the time, over like gangbusters and wrestling the matches of his life. As US Champion, he could be depended on to be produce.
Unfortunately, WWE cut his reign short by awarding it to Show at No Mercy. Show wasn't in the best place at this time, piling on the weight and dialling down the workrate. That WWE chose him to end Guerrero's title reign was disappointing. The match itself was so-so and was called the worst or most disappointing of the show by some.
Show went on to hold the title until WrestleMania XX in March 2004, defending the strap approximately once on television during that time. This most craptacular of reigns started in poor fashion at No Mercy.
