10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Rhyno

10. His Rapid Descent Down The Card During The Invasion

Rhyno was one of the biggest stars of ECW during its final days. When the company folded and he joined the WWF (after coming very close to signing with New Japan Pro Wrestling), many assumed that the WWF would try and make him a big star. He had a lot of things that the company looked for in a talent. While not the tallest, he certainly had the right size and he also had a style that was compatible with the WWF main event style of the time. Rhyno could, crucially, look believable against the likes of The Undertaker, Kane, Kurt Angle and Stone Cold Steve Austin. After a couple of months toiling in the hardcore division and in six-man tags alongside Edge and Christian, Rhyno began moving up the card as the Invasion story began proper. He was in the ten man tag main event of the Invasion PPV and wrestled Chris Jericho in a high-profile match at SummerSlam. By Unforgiven in September, however, he was battling Tajiri in the penultimate 'cool down' match. Rhyno underwent neck surgery in late October and then disappeared from television for over a year. The sad thing was, very few people missed him because the WWF had given them no reason to. The Invasion started out brightly for Rhyno but he ended up just getting lost in the shuffle and, finally, on the shelf.
