10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Rikishi

6. He Was One Of Their Biggest Missed Opportunities

WWE really dropped the ball with Rikishi, didn't they? Sure, he's going into the Hall of Fame and had a pretty decent career, all things considering, winning the Tag Team and Intercontinental Championships. He got to lock horns with Steve Austin and The Rock on PPV during the Attitude Era and he was one of their most over acts for a long period of time. But he could have done so much more, had WWE been willing to go the extra mile with him. It's not often that you get a guy the size of Rikishi that can move the way that he could. Rikishi was special, plus he was a veteran by the time he hit it big in 2000, and had the respect of the fans and the boys in the back. So what happened, exactly? Why wasn't Rikishi regularly main eventing pay-per-views and winning World Championships? The potential was certainly there. Well, Rikishi may have had potential, but he was also on a roster featuring proven entities like The Rock, Austin, Triple H and The Undertaker. That's stiff competition, right there. Then there were the injuries: 'Kishi missed the entire Invasion angle after injuring his shoulder at Judgement Day in 2001. There were further spells out in 2002 and 2003, and WWE let him go in 2004 when he was recovering from yet another injury. Perhaps if Rikishi had have managed to stay healthy, he would have been featured more and become the superstar many predicted he would be.
