10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Rusev

At the very least, we know WWE want you to forget about Rusev's involvement in the love triangle storyline with Lana and Bobby Lashley because he was written out of it with no explanation. Royal Rumble 2020 saw the announcers state that Ru-Ru and Lashley wouldn't be in the titular bout because they were brawling backstage. This suggested the feud would continue and eventually be resolved, but that wasn't the case, as 'The Bulgarian Brute' made just one more WWE appearance before his April release.

Brought back from a three-month absence in September 2019, Rusev was immediately slotted into a storyline that saw 'The All Mighty' steal his real-life wife away, endure their wedding, get routinely beaten from pillar to post without ever taking his own pound of flesh, and ritually embarrassed. Oh, and then Liv Morgan showed up for no reason whatsoever. Real car-crash stuff, particularly towards the end.

While maligned by many, that the storyline was, for a while, a huge YouTube hit encouraged WWE to stretch it far beyond its natural end point. This only made it tougher to watch.
