Joining the WWF from WCW in late-1998, Teddy Long started working for the promotion as a referee. It was Jim Ross, a longtime friend of Teddy's, who landed him the gig. Told creative had nothing for him in Atlanta, Long was on the hunt for work, and was only too happy to join the McMahon empire.

Teddy was present for horrific incidents like Owen Hart's passing at Over The Edge 1999, as well as referee for the infamous match between Darren Drozdov and D'Lo Brown later that year. Those were both traumatic occasions, and they were joined by various backstage scuffles and fights away from the fans.

Talking to Sean Oliver for Kayfabe Commentaries, Long said that he was there for very-real fights between Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero, as well as one between Booker T and William Regal.

It makes sense that not everything can be happy behind the scenes at major wrestling companies, but Teddy has seen some things that WWE probably want him to keep under wraps.
