10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Teddy Long
3. His Match With Eric Bischoff
Matches between non-wrestlers can often be a mixed bag - there's no guarantee on quality when the bell starts ringing. Sometimes, there are surprises, like whenever Vince or Shane McMahon has stepped between the ropes. Both those men have something about them however, whether it's Vince's brawling ability or Shane's willingness to perform insane stunts.
Neither Eric Bischoff or Teddy Long can crow about such in-ring competence. They try their best, but would generally need to be carried to a decent match by an actual full-time wrestler. That didn't stop WWE from putting the Monday Night Raw and SmackDown General Managers in the ring against one another at the 2005 Survivor Series.
Right before the huge Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown main event, Bischoff and Long had an awkward scrap that mercifully lasted a scant five minutes. Unfortunately, it was still a few minutes too long, and had the dubious honour of following a fine match between John Cena and Kurt Angle.
Fans struggled to become invested in the action, but Teddy was the one who came out on top. This was one Survivor Series match to forget.
