10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Elimination Chamber

1. The Extreme Elimination Chamber (2006)

ECW One Night Stand was a success in 2005, and a second One Night Stand show the following year led into a revival of the brand. However, the new ECW would only run a single PPV on its own, and that was the much-maligned December to Dismember.

December to Dismember is the least-purchased pre-Network PPV in WWE history, and is also routinely cited as the worst. It's little wonder - almost none of the card was announced ahead of time, and the impromptu matches contained the "talent" that made up the new ECW brand, guys like Matt Striker and Kevin Thorn.

The main event saw The Big Show defend the ECW Championship in an "Exteme Elimination Chamber" (an Elimination Chamber with some weapons added) against Rob Van Dam, CM Punk, Bobby Lashley, Test, and noted PPV headliner Hardcore Holly. Original ECW owner Paul Heyman - who had input into the new ECW - wanted to put CM Punk over by having him eliminate Show, but Vince McMahon disagreed, deciding Punk would be the first man eliminated. Test was put over strong, though, eliminating RVD and Holly.

By the time Lashley pinned The Big Show to win, most people wanted to pretend the match (and the show) hadn't happened.
