10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Elimination Chamber
3. The Undertaker Was Set On Fire (2010)
While this instance technically didn't happen in the Elimination Chamber itself, it was still a scary situation that almost resulted in severe injury to a top star.
At the 2010 Elimination Chamber show, Undertaker defended the World Heavyweight Title against Chris Jericho, R-Truth, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, and CM Punk in the main event.
When he came out for the match, though, a pyrotechnics mishap (the fault of a backstage technician) meant that Undertaker was engulfed in flames. His trademark leather duster was caught on fire and he had to strip it off quickly - but he still sustained first- and second-degree burns.
Doctors worked on Undertaker off-camera, checking on him and eventually determining that he was fit to compete. 'Taker was loaded into his pod and when he was off screen, he was given water bottles to pour on himself in order to ease the pain. Finally, he entered the match, eliminating John Morrison before falling to Chris Jericho (with some help from Shawn Michaels).
All things considered, WWE was very lucky that Undertaker's injuries weren't worse, and that he insisted on working the bout.
