10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Elimination Chamber
4. Jack Swagger Won (2013)
At Royal Rumble 2013, The Rock captured his first WWE Championship in over a decade and John Cena won the titular match. It was clear that the two men were heading for a WrestleMania rematch, and while CM Punk was owed another title match, that was signed for Elimination Chamber - and seemed like a formality.
That left World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio without a WrestleMania opponent, though, so the Chamber was brought out of mothballs to determine a number one contender.
Involved in the bout were Jack Swagger (who had recently returned as a heel and had already picked a fight with Del Rio), Daniel Bryan, Chris Jericho, Kane, Mark Henry, and Randy Orton.
Given where those stars' paths have taken them over the past four years, it's kind of hard to believe, but WWE actually chose to put Jack Swagger over in the match. He didn't exactly win decisively - his only elimination came at the end, when he rolled up Orton immediately after Orton pinned Jericho - but he still got the victory and the WrestleMania title shot. Now, he can't even get on SmackDown.
