10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Godfather

6. Brawl For All

The ill-fated Brawl for All must sit somewhere close to the top of the list of WWE's biggest on-air blunders. The shootfighting tournament, which pitted sixteen midcard guys against each other in an effort to win a $75,000 prize, achieved absolutely nothing apart from injuring a bunch of talent and boring audiences who wanted to see, you know, professional wrestling. It was a disaster, plain and simple. The Godfather, who didn't have a lot going on at the time, was one of the entrants, facing favourite Dan Severn in the first round. Guess how that went? Godfather lost, naturally, but re-entered the tournament when 'The Beast' withdrew after stating that he had nothing to prove. So Godfather came back into the fold and actually defeated Too Cold Scorpion on points in the quarters, setting up a semi-final match with tournament dark horse Bart Gunn. Gunn had been privately telling everyone who would listen that he would win the whole thing, but nobody believed him. It became apparent during the tournament that Bodacious Bart had some serious knockout power in his right had, knockout power that poor Charles Wright experienced first-hand. Gunn handily beat The Godfather, knocking him out cold. Credit to The Godfather for making it past Scorpio, but the Brawl for All did nothing for him or the WWF. It was a giant miss-step, something WWE won't want you to talk about too much and something you probably don't want to mention to Wright, either.
