10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Godfather

4. He Almost Jumped To WCW

Yep, you read that right - The Godfather almost jumped ship during the Monday Night Wars! During a 2012 interview with IMetAWrestler.com, Wright admitted that he nearly switched sides, explaining that:
I almost went to WCW to be Hogan's enforcer in the nWo. I named my price, the contract was being drawn up, and then at the last minute, I got a call saying the contract was being retracted and there was no longer an offer for me. I was stunned, man, just stunned. I asked why, and it turned out that Virgil offered to do it for a third of the price because he wanted to be back on TV so bad. That dumb motherf***er cost us both!
You'd think a guy that was so tight with The Undertaker would think twice before leaving for WCW, but The Godfather (before he even was The Godfather) almost did! Seems he was one of many who were swayed by the promise of Ted Turner's millions. Wright certainly had the look and presence to be Hogan's enforcer in the nWo and would have been better than the totally worthless Virgil. The likelihood of The Godfather mentioning his near-jump during his Hall of Fame speech? About as likely as Virgil having a line of people wanting autographs at a convention, you'd have to think.
