10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Miz

4. His Babyface Run Didn't Work

If The Miz's babyface stint got off to a poor start, then things just got worse post-Figure Four blessing from Ric Flair. Gunning for Cesaro's United States Title at both the Royal Rumble 2013 (during the pre-show) and at Elimination Chamber the following month, Miz was depicted as a courageous hero who was willing to stand up for America.

Mixing phoney patriotism with the complete ignorance of Miz's past sins was a deadly combination, and not in a good way. All of a sudden, WWE's announcers spoke of The Miz like he had always been a stand up guy. That flew in the face of his cocky, arrogant persona fans had become well-accustomed to for close to a decade.

As a heel, Miz has always been one of WWE's best. He suits the spotlight-hog character well, because that's how Mike Mizanin has always been presented as a human being. When the creative team tried to change that by casting Miz as a smart-talking good guy, it fell flat. Thank God they had the sense to push the reset button in 2014.
