1. The Group's (Potentially Racist) Babyface Run
The New Day are three of the most over heels on the entire roster, but actually began life very differently. After teasing a union on house shows and video packages, WWE debuted the group as an enthusiastic babyface trio in November 2014. Watching the three dance and clap down to the ring without a trace of irony is slightly bizarre in hindsight, and drew a few serious allegations at the time.
A.V. Club branded the gimmick racist, explaining that "they literally pantomime shooting dice when they get into the ring". Racist or not, the gimmick certainly wasn't one of WWE's more imaginative attempts, and the crowd responded in a predictably negative fashion as a result. The trio were finally allowed to turn heel after several months, doing so in April 2015. It's a good job they did; who knows where Xavier, Big E. and Kofi would have found themselves otherwise... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRz9w3_ZK5E
