10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About The Shield
2. They Injured The Undertaker
The Shield's "feud" with The Undertaker lasted only a few weeks. It started the night after WrestleMania 29, when 'The Deadman' decided to pay his respects to the recently-deceased Paul Bearer, but was interrupted by 'The Hounds Of Justice.' Him, Kane, and Daniel Bryan wrestled The Shield a fortnight later, and he defeated Dean Ambrose on that week's SmackDown, before Rollins and Reigns swarmed.
'Taker fell victim to The Shield's calling card - a triple powerbomb through the announce table - and wasn't seen again for 10 months. Why? Because 'The Phenom' suffered a legitimate injury during the assault, forcing WWE to scrap a planned feud between The Shield and The Brothers Of Destruction.
WWE decided against re-booking the feud when Undertaker was able to return, and sent 'The Deadman' after Brock Lesnar instead, resulting in his Streak-snapping loss at WrestleMania 30. It's not a huge blemish on their record, as The Shield continued to soar regardless, but they put a cherished wrestling icon on the shelf for a significant length of time. A good storyline hook, but not something WWE (or 'Taker) would like reminded of.
