Muhammad Hassan jumped from Raw to SmackDown in the summer of 2005. He struggled to make new friends, and immediately found himself in a feud with The Undertaker, which ended up being the last one of his career.

Hassan’s manager Daivari was put in a match against Taker, and was set up to be a “sacrifice for the greater good.” He was basically massacred in their match, but it was all part of the plan. Hassan began praying, and summoned five men in camo pants and black ski masks who quickly beat the hell out of The Undertaker, nearly choking him to death with a piano wire in the process.

While Michael Cole and Tazz never specifically called the men terrorists, you could clearly can see what WWE was going for, especially as Daivari was carried above the heads of the men as if he was a martyr (which the announcers made note of).

The angle was incredibly tasteless in its own right, but to make things worse, the episode aired on the day of the London bombings. Due to the pressure that came down from UPN, affiliates and the media, the Hassan character had to be dropped and the entire thing was never mentioned again after the feud ended.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
