10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Toni Storm

8. The One-Note Presentation

One of the biggest issues with call-ups from NXT to the main roster is that WWE routinely fail to flesh characters out. Their writers rely on one-note personality traits and cling onto them like they're some licence to print money. That's presumably why Toni's rock chick looks became her main reason for existing.

Hearing Michael Cole talk about how Storm's mother was into “80s rock n’ roll” was embarrassingly paper-thin. The dude sounded like a Geography teacher trying to appear hip when he spoke about her “being a wild child of the 80s” too, and this was especially egregious considering Toni was born in 1995.

She doesn't even remember the 80s!

That doesn't mean she can't enjoy the era, obviously, but that's not how WWE presented her. They pretended she lived in a nostalgia bubble and couldn't comprehend the 90s or beyond. It was all so terribly flimsy, but that's what happens when creative don't know what they have on their hands.
