10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Trish Stratus
3. Her Angle With Mickie James Tread Some Disturbing Territory
Perhaps Trish Stratus's most popular feud came when Mickie James joined the company in 2005. Though James was originally portrayed as Stratus's ally and fan, it wasn't long before it was revealed that her fandom was more of an obsession. When Stratus rebuffed James's sometimes-friendly, sometimes-sexual advances, the spurned newcomer became her worst enemy.
The program was likely the most over women's feud in WWE history until the Four Horsewomen hit the scene. However, in a PG environment, there's a lot about the rivalry that simply wouldn't fly today. For one thing, James's stalker-like behavior depicted a very dangerous criminal obsession, which often turns violent or deadly in real-world instances.
The sexual nature of the angle is also a concern. James was frequently sexually aggressive with Stratus, including assaulting her in a spot that was edited out of their WrestleMania 22 match. Given that WWE still has yet to book any storylines feature same-sex superstars or couples that are depicted in a positive light, this is all the more embarrassing.
Odds are, clips of this feud won't be on Raw any time soon.
