10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Trish Stratus

2. She Didn't Herald A New Era For The Women's Division

During the five years that Trish Stratus was at the helm of WWE's Women's division, it rose to new heights - and it wasn't just because of Stratus. Women like Lita, Jacqueline, Victoria, Jazz, Molly Holly, and Gail Kim were all important parts of the new standard for in-ring action, and while the company still had its share of eye candy, they usually stuck to gimmick matches and left the real wrestling to the experts.

As much as WWE would laud Stratus as pioneering a new style for the company, though, she had very little lasting impact. Just a few years after she retired, and the rest of the women from the division's glory days had moved on, the Women's Title has been replaced by the Divas' Title, and models like Kelly Kelly and Maryse brought women's competition back to where it was in the days of Sable. Even though there was still talent, like Beth Phoenix, the scene was dominated by some very bad wrestling.

Hopefully, the likes of Sasha Banks, Charlotte, Naomi, and more have now changed things forever, but there are clearly no guarantees.
