10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About WrestleMania 30

6. Cesaro's Win Went Nowhere

WrestleMania's inaugural battle royal seemed like an interesting experiment at first, but the fact that the match was filled with the talents who didn't make it into other matches gave it a "best of the rest" feel. Many fans assumed that the win would go to someone like The Big Show, Sheamus, or Alberto Del Rio - a star who wasn't deemed worthy of a singles match, but whom the company still wanted to protect. In a surprise, Cesaro (who had turned face after an attack on tag team partner Jack Swagger on WrestleMania's pre-show) was among the wrestlers assembled in the ring, and sure enough, it came down to him and The Big Show. In an impressive visual, the Swiss Superman hoisted the giant up and threw him over the top rope to win. The next night, Cesaro was presented with his trophy, but a new alliance with Paul Heyman meant that he was still a heel. That stymied his momentum, and within months he was regularly losing matches. By the end of the year, Vince McMahon publicly admitted that he didn't believe Cesaro had the "it" factor. The WrestleMania moment had been ruined.
