10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About WrestleMania 30

3. "CM Punk" Chants During The Main Event

A couple of months before WrestleMania XXX, CM Punk walked out of WWE. With the two sides at an impasse, Vince McMahon announced that the former WWE Champion was taking a sabbatical. Many expected Punk to return on the March 3, 2014 Raw from Chicago, but it didn't happen. Leading into WrestleMania, rumors were once again rampant that Punk would bury the hatchet with WWE management and return to the company. That's why during the Orton-Batista-Bryan title match, when Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came down to ringside to try and prevent Bryan from winning, fans began chanting "CM Punk!". Seeing the Straight-Edge Superstar return to the company, take out the boss, and give Bryan the opportunity to win the title without dealing with interference would have given the live crowd even more reason to be elated. Of course, Punk didn't return - he still hasn't and might never. Bryan made his own comeback and won the title, but the "CM Punk" chants that went unfulfilled will always be a part of that match.
