10 Things You Didn't Know About Corey Graves

6. Tool Are His Favourite Band

Professional wrestling and metal music seem to be forever linked. More often than not this is claimed to be because of the inherent aggression in both, but certain sections of the metal world insist that riff-heavy tunes are less violent than immediately meets the eye. The not-so-clear connection is confused further when it is revealed that most wrestlers seem to have a passing interest at best when it comes to music.

Not so Corey Graves. The 'Saviour of Misbehaviour' claims to be one of the biggest music fans in WWE, alongside fellow metal buffs Seth Rollins and Baron Corbin and punk rock loving Sami Zayn. Graves has stated that Corbin and Zayn are pretty much the only WWE performers he goes to shows with regularly.

Before arriving in WWE, Graves was known to the wrestling world as Sterling James Keenan, and Tool fans will immediately know exactly where that name came from. Whilst the 'Sterling' part was attributed to his favourite American Football player (Sterling Sharpe), the 'James Keenan' was lifted directly from the man who fronts the most enigmatic rock band on the planet, Maynard James Keenan.

Graves' MJK interest goes further as he has also stated that A Perfect Circle's Mer de Noms is one of his all-time favourite records. Despite all this we will probably see Graves back in the ring before Tool release their next album...

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
