Ellsworth has not only been wrestling on the independent scene for over 14 years, but he runs 20 shows of his own a year with Adrenaline Championship Wrestling. He’s currently a licensed promoter in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

ACW has been around since 2009, and Ellsworth took it over in 2013. He runs events mainly in small towns, trying to make a little money and gain some exposure, while having to a lot of the busy work himself. During his time as a promoter, he’s booked quite a few big names for his shows like Lita, Bret Hart, Scott Hall and Maria Kanellis. He’s even stepped into the ring and competed against a few famous wrestlers along the way like Jake Roberts, Matt Hardy and Raven.

For some fans, they got to witness a bit of a dream match, though they may not have known it at the time, when he battled Gillberg on the indy scene. The two have drawn comparisons for their body types, and demeanor, and they've actually known each other for a couple decades now, as Gillberg is good friends with Ellsworth's uncle.

Things haven’t always been easy for Ellsworth as a promoter. While he had one show that he co-promoted which sold around 1,400 tickets, another one of his only sold 23 tickets. That was due to the mistake of running a show in a town that had no power, as they lost it in a storm the day before.

Hopefully his wrestling and promoting career will run a bit more smoothly for him now. Even if WWE never brings him back, you can imagine his booking rate will be going up even more so than it already has.

But luckily for his fans, there’s already talk of bringing him back for more...

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
