10 Things You Didn’t Know About Jim Ross
4. He Was Also In A Movie!
In the 1999 biopic on Andy Kaufman, Man on the Moon, the film naturally recounted Kaufman’s affiliation
with the world of professional wrestling. And when it came round to recreating his
escapades inside the squared circle, obviously they were going to need to bring in a commentator for the occasion.
And unsurprisingly, there was only one man for the job, as JR took to the headset as he’s done so many times before, giving proceedings that added authenticity.
With Kaufman riling up the audience, JR damned him for his “total lack of respect,” just as he would if it were a Vince McMahon or a Triple H on an episode of Monday Night Raw. And he backed up his buddy Jerry Lawler’s arrival by emphatically reiterating that “he’s the King!”
He then called the action as Foxy Jackson went up against Kaufman, and while it wasn’t quite as high-octane as some of the WWE performances we've heard from him over the years, he obviously did a great job all the same.
