10 Things You Didn’t Know About Jim Ross
3. He Collects John Wayne Memorabilia
Perhaps one of the least known pieces of Jim Ross trivia is
his fondness of John Wayne memorabilia. And to be honest, why would anyone be
expected to be aware of something so obscure anyway?
In JR's Cookbook: True Ringside Tales, BBQ, and Down-Home Recipes, JR reveals that his father had been a huge fan of John Wayne, and much like his love of football, it too was passed on to JR himself.
Some of his most prized possessions include one of John Wayne’s cigarette lighters, a “personally worn monogrammed shirt”, and three pairs of cuff links, one of which he’d wear every year at WrestleMania and even more recently at a Golden Boy Boxing show on Fox Sports 1.
He draws the line at extravagant acquisitions, though, having been bidding for the Resistol hat Wayne wore in his final move, the Shootist, but wisely bailing when the offers breached the $30,000 mark.
A wise decision if you ask me, Jim, and besides; your hat suits you better anyway.
