10 Things You Didn’t Know About Sasha Banks

1. She Was At The Eddie Guerrero Memorial Show

Sasha Banks has made no secret of her love for Eddie Guerrero. Latino Heat was her favourite wrestler growing up, the biggest influence on her career and arguably the reason she got into pro wrestling in the first place. The WWE Hall of Famer has been a huge influence on many of today’s superstars, but few have been as vocal as The Boss about his impact.

Fate is a cruel mistress. In November 2005, Sasha Banks (well, Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado technically, but you get the point) was living in Minnesota and the WWE was coming to town. Banks won tickets for front row seats and she made an ‘I Love Eddie’ sign ready for the show. Finally, she might get the chance to be noticed by her idol.

Banks was completely unaware of Eddie’s death when she turned up to the show. She was confused about the ‘Eddie RIP’ signs and assumed that they meant he was going to be faced The Undertaker, but her heart was soon broken when she heard the news. Imagine that? The death of Eddie Guerrero hit the wrestling world hard, but Sasha’s story of discovery is rawer than most.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
