10 Things You Didn’t Know About Sasha Banks

7. Her Mum Tried To Stop Her Watching Wrestling

From the moment Banks saw the stars of SmackDown doing their thing, she was hooked. Wrestling took over her life, providing an escape when the rigours of everyday existence were just too much to deal with. Wrestling has been an escape for millions of people all across the world, and Sasha Banks was no different.

Her family wasn’t overly thrilled with the idea of young Sasha getting into wrestling, let alone trying to carve out a career in the industry. Momma Boss insisted on Banks changing the channel whenever the WWE was on, although Banks reacted by simply agreeing and moving into her brother’s room, where she would commandeer the television and continue watching the blue brand.

Her mother is far more accepting of Sasha’s choice of career, seeing how it is has provided her daughter with an incredible life and all the rest. Still, Banks has said that her grandmother doesn’t understand why she wants to get beaten up for a living, and her brother stays true to sibling form by wanting her to lose as often as possible. Classic.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
