Sasha Banks is a self-confessed Sailor Moon nut, a huge fan of the ‘90s manga series created by Naoko Takeuchi. This isn’t entirely surprising, we live in a pop culture-obsessed world after all, but once again Banks has gone to great lengths to indulge in that which she adores. The world of hip hop may have been the prevailing influence on her wrestling persona, but that doesn’t get to happen without Sailor Moon.

Like many of her peers, Banks gravitated towards strong female characters as she was making her way in the world, taking influence and inspiration from fictional women who were making a difference. She has said that watching Sailor Moon was like ‘looking in a mirror’ at times, especially when it came to the character Serena Tsukino, the cartoon’s primary protagonist.

Sasha has said that she sees a lot of herself in Serena, although fans that only know The Boss will struggle to see the similarities. In the world of the WWE Universe, Sasha Banks is confident, flawless, magnificent. Outside of that, she says she is just as clumsy and nervous as everyone else, especially when it comes to keeping time. Banks has been vocal about her love of Japanese cartoons and K-Pop music, an adoration that has often made its way into her fashion choices and in-ring gear.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
