10 Things You Didn’t Know About TJ Perkins
6. Youngest Non-Japanese NJPW Star
We’ve already discussed how Perkins got into the business at a very young age, but here’s another age-related feather to stick in his sizeable cap.
During his debut on the Cruiserweight Classic, Daniel Bryan told us that TJ Perkins was the youngest performer to ever wrestle at the Tokyo Dome, which is impressive enough in itself. On top of that though, it seems that Perkins was also the youngest non-Japanese wrestler to ever wrestle for the promotion at all.
Perkins made his debut for the company at the NJPW/Muga event Muga in Tokyo, and although the show was broadcast on Nov. 9, 2002, it actually took place a few weeks earlier on Oct. 6 when Perkins was aged just 18 years and three weeks.
Thinking back, when I was that age I was still living at home and wondering what to do with my life, which somehow doesn’t sound quite as appealing as wrestling on the other side of the planet in front of a jam-packed Korakuen Hall crowd.
