CM Punk never forgave Triple H for the Night Of Champions 2011 outcome.

He said as much in the iconic and incendiary Art Of Wrestling podcasts alongside former friend Colt Cabana following his acrimonious split from the organisation. Recounting the hostilities he shared with 'The Game' ahead of leaving the company the night after the 2014 Royal Rumble, Punk detailed how angry he still was that Hunter needlessly went over him slap bang in the middle of the 'Summer Of Punk'.

WrestleMania XXX was supposedly set to be his redemption but Punk knew - and wanted - better for himself and pied a rematch off completely. Back in 2011, 'The Voice Of The Voiceless' had to wait until November to make good on his Pipe Bomb and get his definitive WWE Championship win, and his position never looked lower than when he was eating defeat against the COO.

Interestingly, the match did at least headline the show above a WWE Championship clash between John Cena and Alberto Del Rio. In a symbolic representation of the volatile relationship between the promoter and performer, those spots seemingly swapped places as soon as Punk was strapped up.
