One of the most respected minds in the entire industry, it was Raven who first made moves in an attempt to bring Rechner over to Extreme Championship Wrestling. At the time, Raven was the leader of a faction that also included Stevie Richards and the Blue Meanie, and it was into this group that he wanted Rechner to start.

The move never happened however, due to Rechner's unwillingness to be a comedy aside in a faction. Raven wanted to introduce him as 'Boo Meanie', a take on his former Boo Bradley Jr. gimmick, and have him tease constant tension with Blue Meanie. Rechner rejected the idea, stating instead that he wanted to be taken seriously and, in his own words, 'make an impact'.

Still, Rechner credits Raven with coming up with the name 'Balls Mahoney', so the situation wasn't an entire waste.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
