The wrestling 'style' of Balls Mahoney often rubbed people up the wrong way. Balls was a hell of a big man wrestler back in the day, but as crowds demanded more and more violence Balls Mahoney wasn't going to refuse their wishes. If they wanted chair shots, he would give them chair shots. If they wanted blood, Balls would spill buckets of his own to please him.

It was one such instance of bleeding that would see Balls Mahoney banned from wrestling in Maryland for life. Not long after ECW shut its doors, Balls was appearing at a show in the state at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, going up against old rival Rob Van Dam.

Before the show, the Maryland Commission set rules and guidelines that all the performers were to follow, the most important of which was for there to be no blood whatsoever. Balls got busted open however, and bled profusely during the match. This resulted in him going up against the Maryland Commission, and getting a lifetime ban from wrestling in Maryland.

Balls be banned!

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
