10 Things You Didn't Know About Bash At The Beach
3. The More The Merrier
In professional wrestling, the majority of pay-per-views (or 'big' events, if it's not technically a pay-per-view) will round off the night with a major singles match. In WCW though, that wasn't always the case, especially not at Bash At The Beach.
Of the seven events promoted, only three of them ended with a one-on-one bout, all of which were contested for the World Heavyweight Championship - 1994 had Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair, 1995 Hogan vs. Vader in a Steel Cage Match, and 2000 had Jeff Jarrett vs. Booker T. All of the other events had a multi-man match top off the card.
1996 saw Sting, Lex Luger, and Randy Savage collide with The Outsiders (and later, Hulk Hogan), with Lex Luger and The Giant vs. Hollywood Hogan and Dennis Rodman rounding off proceedings in 1997, and Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone taking on Hogan and Rodman in 1998. The final Bash At The Beach of the millennium had Kevin Nash & Sting vs. Randy Savage & Sid Vicious as its main event, although the World Heavyweight Championship was still up for grabs.
It's a rare sight to see a multi-man match main event pay-per-views these days, unless it's a special exception (such as the Royal Rumble).
