Newer WWE fans will recall several of Brian's brief cameos (mainly under the Grand Master Sexay gimmick) since his main run ended in 2001. As Christopher, he infamously entered to zero reaction in 2011 for a segment with his father and Michael Cole, and he also worked with Scotty 2 Hotty against The Ascension at NXT: Arrival in 2014.

Those were one-offs, but WWE did rehire Christopher full time for a short period in 2004.

Signing Brian was one of Jim Ross's last actions as WWE's head of Talent Relations before being supplanted by John Laurinaitis in the role. Maybe that's why Christopher didn't last. Approximately three years on from his last stint, he wrestled just four matches on television before being given the boot again.

After working Kane on Raw in April, Brian was relegated to matches against enhancement talent (and one against Christian) on Heat. The gig was doomed to failure, is barely memorable at all and marked Christopher's last WWE match until the aforementioned NXT appearance a decade later.
