In 2009, Doug Williams joined forces with Magnus and Rob Terry to form The British Invasion in TNA. The heel faction was centred around Williams and Magnus as a tag-team, with Terry acting as bodyguard muscle for the duo. From a presentation standpoint, they looked excellent, but Doug was hesitant before actually going through with the union.

At the time, Magnus (a future TNA Heavyweight Champion) was still largely a rookie. The same could be said for Terry, with Williams telling Ben Veal that both were "pretty green at that point" and that he had reservations about the whole idea. Thankfully, those would lessen as time went on.

Going further, Doug claims he was delighted to have the chance to show what he could do in tag-team wrestling. He had dabbled in tandem action when over in Japan, but enjoyed making it a regular thing once he was able to work with Magnus and iron out some kinks in their performances.

It's honest of Williams to say he was hesitant. As the most experienced in the team, the pressure of it succeeding pretty much fell on him.
