10 Things You Didn't Know About Doug Williams

Vince Russo's on and off relationship with TNA as an organisation can be confusing. There have been times when the writer has been openly working with the company, then others when he was doing so secretly. Today, his ties to TNA are minimal, although only he and other management know for sure.

One thing Doug Williams does know is that he enjoyed working under Russo's writing. The former WWE and WCW head writer was responsible for penning a first TNA Tag-Team Title run for The British Invasion, as well as Doug's lengthy association with the TNA X Division gold. For that, Williams is grateful.

Telling Sports Vibe in an interview that he understands why Russo is much-maligned at times, he says he can't have anything but fond memories of working alongside the man. Russo gave Doug massive opportunities, continually referring back to him as the kind of performer he wanted on his television shows.

Once Russo left TNA, Williams was sad to see him go. Given their vastly different backgrounds in terms of what they like about wrestling, that's somewhat surprising. Few could have guessed that Doug Williams and Vince Russo would have clicked.
