10 Things You Didn't Know About ECW One Night Stand

9. Chris Benoit Vs Dean Malenko Was Planned For The 2006 Show

Although they weren't in ECW for a long time, Benoit and Malenko formed a memorable tag team that won the ECW Tag Team Championships. So, while not the most notable ECW stars of all-time, the two did have connections with the Philadelphia league.

It was planned for several months that Malenko and Benoit would clash at the 2006 One Night Stand event, in a tribute to the late Eddie Guerrero. Malenko, who retired in 2001 and became a trainer/road agent, was given plenty of notice to get into ring-shape. The Iceman wouldn't want to disrespect the memory of his friend with a sub-par performance.

The match never happened, of course, because Benoit was given a four month sabbatical to recover from injuries and help out at home.
