The legendary 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair signed with TNA in late-2009, making his first appearance on the January 4, 2010 edition of Impact Wrestling. Aligned with AJ Styles on screen, he was at first clearly there to work with younger talent and allow some of his timeless magic to rub off on them.

Before Flair had even been approached by TNA management, they had laughed at Jay Lethal's incredible impersonation of the wrestling royalty. Upon Ric's arrival in the company, he was made aware of Jay's act, and was apparently eager to hear it. Meanwhile, Lethal was wondering how he could best go about introducing himself to a childhood hero.

Telling Busted Open Radio about his first meeting with Flair, Lethal said that words were barely out of his mouth before Ric asked to hear the impression. Obliging, Jay then looked on stunned as the legend walked away, mumbling to someone nearby that it had been good.

Lethal had been planning a simple handshake before moving on, and can't have seen that one coming.
