10 Things You Didn't Know About Raven

4. A Cross-Promotional Grand Slam Champion

Raven is one of a select band of wrestlers that have held singles titles in WWE, WCW and ECW, a number that drastically falls if you add TNA to the equation. In fact, Raven is the only individual to win singles titles in the four, although Mick Foley also joins the ranks if tag team championships are allowed.

Few wrestlers have had as much cross-promotional success as Raven, even without taking championships into account. By doing so, the former Johnny Polo enters a league of his own. Laugh at his mass of WWF Hardcore Championship reigns all you like, but the longevity and consistent success of the man is difficult to argue with.

Raven was a two-time ECW Heavyweight Champion before moving to WCW and winning the United States Championship (he also had a short Light Heavyweight Championship reign in 1992). The only belt he won in WWF was the aforementioned Hardcore Championship, but a win is a win is a win. To round off the glory, Raven finally won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in TNA in 2005.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
