10 Things You Didn't Know About Tajiri

9. Ultimo Dragon Was His Wrestling Hero

Tajiri Intro

It may have been lucha libre that turned Tajiri on to professional wrestling, but his favourite wrestler at the time was a man from his own land. In what may be one of the biggest understatements one can make, Ultimo Dragon is a pretty influential wrestler. He made his debut in 1987 and has since wrestled all over the world, most notably in World Championship Wrestling. Dragon had a short tun in the WWE, but this is mostly remembered for him tripping up at WrestleMania XX.

If all you know of Dragon is that botched entrance in Madison Square Garden, you owe it to yourself to get on to the WWE Network (Just 9.99 a month!) and seek out some of his work in World Championship Wrestling. Dragon won a number of titles during his time there, including two runs with the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.

He is also the innovator of a number of moves, pretty much anything with the word 'Asai' before it. Not a bad man to be influenced by.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
