That same bump-heavy style Kid worked would come back to bite him in the end when he suffered an excruciating back injury during a tag match in the WWF. When working alongside Davey Boy Smith against Don Muraco and Bob Orton at the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, two discs in Dynamite's back ripped and exploded.

Take a moment to process how painful that would've been.

Medics rushed to the scene and had to lock Kid's legs down to stop them from convulsing (nerve damage meant his limbs would sporadically spasm). Instead of being worried about the pain, Kid was more concerned about what the injury might mean for his wrestling career. Docs told him to retire, but he ignored them.

He was only 28 years of age and believed he had years ahead of him as a top-tier worker. Unfortunately, after the back injury, Dynamite was never the same again, and the pain would finally force him to retire for good a decade later.
