4. Oldest Draftee
There were a fair
few veterans who saw their names called this year in the Draft; Goldust, Mark
Henry, Big Show, Kane - all of whom are well into their 40s.
But that’s positively youthful when compared to the evergreen Ric Flair, who in 2007 became the oldest draftee in WWE history at the ripe old age of 58.
That’s just old enough to put him ahead of Jim Ross, who was 56 when his name was called in 2008, and Hulk Hogan, who was a sprightly 49 when drafted in 2002.
Then again, if we’re going to really dig deep into this one, I suppose you could make a claim that Bob Backlund broke Flair’s record this year in the Draft. Backlund is indeed now 66 years-old, not that you could tell by looking.
But since he was
drafted as an accompanying manager, rather than an independent talent, I’m not
sure we can count it. Plus, we don't want to do anything that might encourage Flair to attempt a comeback next year...
