10 Things You Didn’t Know About The WWE Draft

3. New Day Tie The NWo

RIC FLAIR DRAFT PICK

This past week on SmackDown Live, the New Day tied the record for longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in history. But it wasn’t the only record they’d match that night.

In being selected as a trio in the Draft, they joined the New World Order as the only three-man team to ever be drafted together in history.

The nWo had been given special dispensation by Vince McMahon to be drafted as a unit in 2002, though ultimately it was Ric Flair who would bring the group to his Raw brand. This particular incarnation featured Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and X-Pac, so while it wasn’t necessarily the original line-up, that’s still some pretty star-studded company that the New Day find themselves alongside.

Another team who could have joined that esteemed list this year were of course the Social Outcasts. Instead, though, they were split up by Stephanie McMahon because apparently she really didn’t want Heath Slater.
