10 Things You Didn’t Know About WCW Halloween Havoc
9. The Same Arena Hosted The Last 5 Events
All in all, there were 12 Halloween Havoc events. The very first - in 1989 - was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From there, the Pay-Per-View was hosted in different cities, until 1996 at least. From '96, Halloween Havoc was held in Las Vegas, Nevada every year up until the last event in 2000. The MGM Grand Garden Arena was the host venue, and WCW liked it so much they stuck with it. Years later, WWE would do something similar with SummerSlam. That annual event took place for years in Los Angeles, but WCW's Halloween Havoc did it before them. The very first show to be held in the building under the Halloween Havoc name in 1996 pulled 10,000 fans. This was far below the maximum capacity of 16,800, but fire safety considerations, set design and the fact there was a wrestling ring in the middle of the floor must be taken into account. By the turn of the new millennium, WCW's stock had fallen considerably. Thus, the promotion's events weren't quite as big a draw as they had been. Even though they'd been coming to Las Vegas for years, Halloween Havoc 2000 only pulled in a little over 7,500 people. This was an indication of where WCW was at the time, but they seemed to enjoy visiting the venue for this particular show.
