10 Things You Didn’t Know About WCW Halloween Havoc
8. A 1992 Tag-Team Bout Was Longest In Halloween Havoc History
Over the years, there were some woefully short matches at Halloween Havoc. For example, the last ever match to go on at the event only went a little over 3 minutes. In the main event of Halloween Havoc 2000, Goldberg defeated KroniK in a handicap affair that failed to excite the live crowd whatsoever. Thankfully, one match on the 1992 iteration of the event certainly gave people value for money. In '92, the Philadelphia Civic Center was hosting Halloween Havoc for the second time, having previously held the very first event. Smack bang in the middle of the card, there was a tag-team bout for both the NWA and WCW World Tag-Team Titles. Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham faced 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams and Steve Austin in the match, one which went to a time limit draw. Given that the time limit was 30 minutes, this makes the collision the longest in Halloween Havoc history. Other matches did come close, such as Ric Flair and Sting vs. The Great Muta and Terry Funk in 1989. That particular bout went around 24 minutes, paling in comparison to the later tag clash in '92. No match at subsequent Halloween Havoc events would ever come close to beating that record.
