10 Things You Didn't Know About WCW In 1993

9. The Hollywood Blonds Didn't Want To Team At First (Or Split Up)

When WCW management informed Steve Austin that he was going to team with Brian Pillman regularly, Austin was less than thrilled.

Seeking the opportunity to show what he could do as a singles star, he has since noted on his own podcast that his hesitancy was nothing personal towards Pillman.

Having teamed together once or twice in the past, the tandem became a full on unit in January, 1993. Dubbed 'The Hollywood Blonds', Austin and Pillman quickly decided to put their all into the team.

Pillman suggested they begin wearing matching outfits and ring jackets, which helped them become more established with crowds.

Much like a lot of other stars in WCW history, The Blonds weren't given much notice that they were going to split. The company elected to pull the plug on their union in late October, which didn't sit well with either man.

After only around 10 months together as a team, they were suddenly - once again - singles performers without much direction.

It's quite ironic that they were hesitant about teaming, only to then show great chemistry and not want to split.
